Fruit Delight

We know desserts can be very tempting for many of us, but when we indulge in them we often just fill our bodies with empty calories and too much processed sugar, which is harmful to our health. So when your sweet tooth refuses to be ignored, why not try this delicious recipe? Fruit Delight is a sweet treat that is light, nutritious and quick to make.  Made from fresh fruit, nuts and whipped cream this dish is surprisingly delicious and healthy.  It is also easy to double this recipe for larger gatherings. This one is sure to become a family favorite.  The cost of ingredients ranges from $5 to $7.

Ingredients

  • 2 apples

  • 2 bananas

  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

  • 1 8oz can of chopped pineapple  (lightly drained)

  • 1 8oz tub of whipped topping (regular, lite or sugar-free, any brand) For a healthier alternative, make your own whipped cream by combining whipping cream with just a tiny bit of sugar, and whip with a whisk until it thickens.

Directions

Cut the apples and bananas into bite-size chunks.  Place into a large mixing bowl.  Add in the chopped pineapple and nuts.  Stir all these ingredients together then fold in the whipped topping.  Gently mix the fruit into the whipped topping until the topping is evenly distributed in the bowl. Chill in refrigerator until ready to serve.
