Medicaid and Healthwave will become KanCare effective January 1, 2013
Learn how this change may affect you. GraceMed can help explain the changes and assist in finding the right KanCare plan for you.
A ‘tsunami’ of demand for quality health care is coming to Wichita and south central Kansas. And, we are not prepared! Currently, 48,000 ‘Baby-Boomers’ residing in Sedgwick County will age into eligibility for Medicare and Social Security over the next ten years. Of the 75,000 uninsured county residents, 42,000 will have the option to purchase a health insurance plan effective January 1, 2014. The key question is where will these people go to access primary health care? In our community and throughout the nation, there is no incentive for private physicians to expand their clinics or add more providers to meet the increasing demand for care based on the changes enacted by the Affordable Care Act. In our community, the only reasonable and fiscally sound option is to expand the community health center capacity. GraceMed has been growing to meet this demand over the past five years, caring for 29,317 unduplicated patients in 2012. But, that’s not enough. We need the community’s support to build, equip and staff additional clinics in areas that are terribly underserved right now. Won’t you or your organization let us know how you can help? Please call 866-2069 for information on specific projects you can be a part of.
School-Based Clinic Projects – Cloud, Gardiner and Oaklawn Elementary Schools
A new building at Cloud Elementary School will replace the current Evergreen Clinic and a new clinic at Gardiner Elementary School will soon replace the current Healthy Children Clinic. Both Clinics are estimated to be completed in Aug/Sept. of this year. Both locations will have space to host two medical providers and a dental hygienist. Construction has also recently began at Oaklawn Elementary School in Derby. These areas are severely underserved with few, if any, private health care offices. After completion the public will have the opportunity to tour each facility at an Open House. More information to follow.
