Press Release – April 4, 2012
GraceMed Receives Funds to Provide Dental Services for Transition-Aged Youth
GraceMed has received a one-time grant to provide dental services for transition-aged youth, ages 14-25, with a focus on those with special health care needs or disabilities. Appointments will be offered starting in April through the end of July at GraceMed’s main clinic, 1122 N. Topeka. Prevention services to be offered includeexams, cleanings, sealants and fluoride varnishes. The GraceMed dental staff will work with those patients who also need restorative dental services.
GraceMed also offers a sedation dentistry program for both adult and pediatric special needs patients who cannot receive services otherwise. However, this new program is for transition-aged youth with special needs who can receive care in a traditional dental setting.
For more information regarding this program or to make an appointment, please call 316 866-2046.
Earlier this year, GraceMed received a grant of $500,000 towards the cost of building a new school-based clinic at Dodge Elementary School in west Wichita. Total cost for clinic construction is $850,000. This new clinic will serve uninsured/underinsured children and adults in the area. In fact, we discovered that 76% of the 2,409 children enrolled in 6 west Wichita schools including Dodge qualify for the federal free/reduced lunch program. Most of these children will also qualify for HealthWave and have easy access to both medical and dental care once the clinic is built.
As you consider your year-end giving, won’t you consider making an investment in the lives of folks living in west Wichita? This new clinic will provide prevention services for kids and help adults improve their health. Contact Dave Sanford at 866-2001 or dsanford@gracemed.org for more information.
