Dental Hygiene Supervisor

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Directly responsible for communicating with schools, head start programs, long term care facilities and any other organizations to maintain existing relationships and schedule future dates for services
  • Evaluates and establishes expectations and responsibilities between GraceMed and entities receiving dental services. Provides Expectations Worksheet and Exit Interview forms to contacts at each site
  • Coordinates and evaluates facilities preparedness and capabilities needed to support outreach prior to services. Ensures that assistance is being provided by the host site through either staff or volunteers
  • Schedules outreach hygiene services in coordination with Hygiene Supervisor
  • Assists with coordination of outreach site as needed to include but not limited to; logistics of site set-up, direction of patient flow, communication with contacts, compiles outreach patient paperwork and makes sure all information needed is provided by legal parent/guardian
  • Operates a large vehicle for the transportation of moving outreach equipment to different locations
  • Operates mechanical lift gates to facilitate loading and unloading of materials, as appropriate to the area of operation
  • Loads and unloads dental outreach equipment and related materials onto and off of vans, ensuring that appropriate loading /packing is used to prevent damage
  • Responsible for processing patient records and billing information for each site visit and hands over to the data entry person in a timely fashion
  • Creates and sends treatment plans to the parents of the children who are uninsured and therefore would need to pay for services
  • Assists Dental Hygiene Supervisor with marketing of GraceMed’s preventive portable dental services through involvement/coordination at health fairs, PAC nights and/or other community events
  • Data collection and maintain the patient data base for all grant reporting related to GraceMed’s preventive portable dental services
  • Provides routine, weekly communication with Dental Hygiene Supervisor
  • Additional duties as assigned

Experience & Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor degree preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel to outreach locations
  • Previous dental office or dental field experience preferred

Qualifications

  • Understanding of ethics of confidentiality
  • Previous computer experience or training preferred
  • Courteous, honest and professional at all times
  • Ability to communicate and relate well with public
  • Ability to provide innovative input into the development of the dental hub concept
  • Efficient, organized and accurate recordkeeping, scheduling, and communication
  • Ability to work flexible schedules required

Work Environment & Schedule

Working Conditions

Travel to various outreach locations required. Multi-task oriented position that may require sitting or standing for long periods. Bending, stooping, and lifting (up to 50lbs.) may be required. Must interact with physicians, clients, patients and other office personnel. Must possess socio-economic and cultural sensitivity. May involve contact with angry, upset or ill persons. Must have visual acuity and manual dexterity to interface with computer. Must have auditory acuity to handle phone calls and extensive interaction with the public.

Work Schedule

Normal schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm., schedule may vary.
