Essential Primary Role:  Serves as on-site, IT Coordinator, of various communications (telecommunication and/or data) systems involving both multiple-site and internal central office systems (installation, setup, and repair of clinic network components).  Coordinates( with guidance from COO) the addition, moves, changes, and deletions involved with switches, cabling, cross connects, and voice mail system.  This position will work with IT vendors on network health, data backup and special projects.  

Reporting Relationships: The IT Coordinator has a primary obligation to the Corporation as a whole and reports to the Chief Operations Officer.  

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Acts as the first level of IT support for GraceMed.
  2. Monitors IT components and maintains system efficiency.  Ensures the design of multiple computer system components work collectively together.
  3. Troubleshoots problems reported by users and by automated network monitoring systems and makes recommendations to COO for future upgrades.
  4. Reviews backlogged work orders to ensure that assignments are completed; responds to problems in a tactful and expedient manner.
  5. Delivers expected service levels within the prescribed budget.
  6. Submits monthly reports to the COO.
  7. Assists with coordination of work assignments amongst vendors and contractors.
  8. Reviews price quotes for the procurement of parts, services, and labor for projects.  Report’s findings to COO for consideration and final approval.
  9. Attends vendor meetings for IT matters.
  10. Order and stores equipment and stock.
  11. Evaluates new products on the market for applicability to possible future installations.
  12. Oversees the scheduling, maintenance, and monitoring of all EHR, IT, and other systems to ensure efficient operation, inspects IT and generates inspection reports.
  13. Responsible for all tagging of inventory.
  14. Develops and maintains positive relationships with staff and vendors.
  15. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Ability to multi task and work efficiently in a fast-paced, IT Helpdesk environment
  2. Ability to strongly embrace and personify the mission of the GraceMed Health Clinic.
  3. Ability to collaborate and interact with a diverse group of health care professionals.
  4. Ability to organize and prioritize work appropriately.
  5. Able to use computers and understand computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, and process information.
  6. Excellent analytical skills necessary for preparing reports, devising solutions, and implementing changes in a health care setting.
  7. Responsible for identifying training needs.
  8. Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex business documents.
  9. Ability to effectively respond to sensitive issues, complex inquiries or complaints from vendors, co-worker, supervisor, and/or management.
  10. Ability to make effective presentations on general topics to an internal department, large group of employees, clients, and/or management.
  11. Ability to motivate employees and groups to take desired action. 

 Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in related field.  Or Associate’s degree and/or relevant certification, plus minimum 2 years, proven experience in information technology required.
  2. Previous IT experience in clinical setting required.
  3. Previous experience in a community health center setting preferred. 

 Qualifications:        

  1. Must have a comprehensive understanding of the medical and administrative issues involved in coordinating a IT program for a community health center. 
  2. Requires experience and demonstrated abilities for working in a multi-cultural setting.
  3. Successful candidate must submit to TB testing and any vaccinations recommended by OSHA Guidelines.

 Working Conditions: The duties described in this job description are normal for this position.  The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this position.  Primarily business office environment.  Significant interaction with a wide variety of staff and providers.  Limited, but very significant interactions with patients and physicians.  Some bending, stooping, and lifting (up to 50#).  Must possess socio-economic and cultural sensitivity.  May involve contact with angry, upset or ill persons.  Will involve potential exposure to blood and body fluids and other hazardous substances.  Must have visual acuity and manual dexterity to assist with procedures, perform and interpret lab results, and interface with computer.  Must have auditory acuity to handle phone calls and extensive patient interaction.
